I was wondering if the items like Potato of the Apocalypse or the Flower Boots have any use or are just there to look cool.

The Potato is there to play Hot Potato with, duh.

Yeah, as far as I know speaking of easter eggs is a no-no.

Generaly i accept pointing out that something is an easter egg, and an explination of what it does in the case of the potato. Details of how to get, or comprehensive lists, are bad.
