I'm kinda torn on what I would want to work on next.
Incase some things aren't clear:
New Heroes - Does not mean Fel Orcs. They aren't coming anytime soon, if ever. What, three races isn't enough for you?
Revamp existing Heroes - This means finding a bunch of unused or underused spells and giving them new life, or complete overhauls of some heroes to make them work better.
Massive Rebalancng - This would make the entire version devoted to some giant balance concerns I've had. AoE's would be the top of the list, and a dispel system overhaul. Even spawn rebalancing may factor into this one.

I thought about adding that to the poll, but I felt it'd be out of place. This is talking about the future of EotA 1, after all. And EotA 2.0 isn't nessarily going to be anything like EotA1.Tehw00tz wrote:I say other, I'd rather see EotA 2.0
On that note, it wont be called EotA2, it'll get some differnt subtitle, possibly dropping the EotA prefix becuase of the stigma the EotA name seems to have gotten.

I say finish adding stuff, like the New Battlefield (<3 Candle) and Talents (was the coolest thing ever IM) and maybe changing some thigns (AoE and Dispells) or w/e
Because like Cross said, these thigns are bound to bring in big balance questions, yes UD need another AoE hero
Ummm, the top secret Exo 2.0 would be cool, but what stigma does Eota have with it?

Very long games (early versions ran 2-3 hours), large confusing map, newbie unfriendliness, newbies getting an impression of HORRIBLE balance due to not knowing how things work. Possibly some others too.mianmian wrote:Ummm, the top secret Exo 2.0 :D would be cool, but what stigma does Eota have with it?
And yes, I've seen more then a few people who tried like 1.02 and haven't tried any of the newer ones and still spout the really old things that are already long changed.

1st: Talents... I hate you for removing them...
2nd: Upgrades... when you find a good way... (like the more or less random ones we discussed)
3rd: Revamp.
4th: Rebalance. (Last because the first 3 will change balance, and when everything was fine due to Rebalance coming earlier, they would throw stuff over again)
Ohh, and yes, UD could use another AoE hero...

Oh! I never knew you released 1.11... I stopped monitoring the site a while back, I thought the map was discontinued. I am very happy to see the map around again. Here are my opinions:
1. Balance. The undead heroes are frankly not nearly as balanced as the others due to their recent addition
2. Readd unit upgrades. The majority of battle.net is not aware that talents ever existed, but they are aware that you removed upgrades and likely want them back.
3. The talents... Good idea but too large for a new version soon, I would rather the other come first.
Revamp tends to anger people when their favorite hero's skillset has changed.
Yak, the icon idea I suppose never worked for the minimap Oh well!
However, after much testing I think I have identified a possible source of in game lag. The camera smoothing is good at the start when circling around heroes, etc. However, it is not really needed after heroes are spawned. Perhaps you should test the map with others without it enabled to see if performance improves.

I second hams sounds the best way for me also.
Also i never heard that smoothing does leak Oo
Caus leaks are used regions units etc, that still exist somewhere without use.
Thats why you need to "trash" them.
But would be intresting, you can also easily check it.
Open the task manager and look at the mass of cpu wc3 needs.
Then start it and do whatever you want. then close it and look how much it wasted. Then you can see how much it leaks.

I don't think that's right... talents were added for some heroes in an earlier test version... We just need some more ideas (talents were never supposed to be for all heroes) and balance... and when you think about how quick we finally balanced Undead, balancing shouldnt take too long...GotIt82 wrote:3. A new map, simply because it would probably lead to more places to play Undead.
Beyond that, I enjoy the map as is. Everyone loves new heroes, although those're a pain to balance... I guess bring back upgrades?

[OT on]
A small introduction into the Race system in EotA:
Back in the old days, it was fairly easy to determine what race you got. You could pick Human for Elves and Night Elves for Creeps. Rest was random. Ingame, there was a kind of "vote". That team with more votes for Elves got the Elves, the other team played Creeps (and the other way around).
Now, as you can also play UD, it isnt THAT easy anymore... Undead votes for Undead, rest like before. Now the races with the highest amount of votes are compared. Both want to be Undead with 4 votes each? Let's throw a coin, outcome random. The team not becoming Undead get it's race of second choice.
As you can see, the maps dont have ANY effect... -.-
Any questions?
