The game is never on the list for me.

it should be listed on east west and euro servers. when you first go in try scrolling down. for me its always on the bottom.

If you're using America as your region in your cfg, that would explain why it never appears for Dekar, who is connecting from Germany.

There has never been a configuration problem before with setting the bot up on the euro server like this. Also other euros have been able to see it, though im not sure if it was because they connected to the east server or the euro server though.

I looked on east and euro. Joining with the name worked.

Just now I saw the game in the list for the first time.

I can't see the game but I can join the game if I type it in now (instead of disconnecting me from Bnet).

The game should always be seen when the bot is hosting it, right?

yes, it should, and its always hosting. I have no idea why the hell its behaving the way it is either.

TL;DR:
DotA DID in fact destroy custom games, Blizzard doesnt care, and our bot needs to REHOST every 10 seconds to have any chance of filling.

Alternatively, could try another bot: http://www.codelain.com/forum/index.php?topic=1274.0

Some threads say it's far more effective at getting games to show up on the list. However I only have about 10 minutes of research and don't know how outdated some of this info is.

AFAIK it is outdated. Ghost One is just a GUI and a reskin of Ghost++.

The thread itself says it evolved into more than just a gui. What I dont know is how up to date it is compared to ghost++, as well as if ghost++ incorporated the improvements.

There's another thread that talks about recompiling it for far faster refresh optimizations, but I'm also unaware if that's already in the current build or not.

I also found yet another thread that suggested the game list might actualy be ordered by ping. I'm slightly inclined to believe this because yesterday there were 2-3 non-bot hosted games consistently showing up on the list.

ghost++ hasnt been updated in well over a year as far as features go. it is a legacy program in their mind now, so the only updates it gets are bnet fixes which generally arnt required because warden is no longer being used. The ghost one is a gui and other enhancements for ghost++. its almost as out of date as ghost++ for the same reason.

Yea but the changes in question are like 3 years old, so I dont know what's incorporated and what's not.

yeah thats the biggest problem with finding this stuff out, all the info is so old and out dated a lot of it isnt even relavant anymore.

I talked with Soft about these theories and he said he made good experiences with rehosting every 45 seconds.

I am pretty sure this bot refreshes the list every few seconds by basically closing and opening any empty slots but im pretty sure that trick doesnt work anymore. as for rehosting there is no option with this bot to auto rehost every x seconds that im aware of.

Ghost One should be able to do that.

Just FYI the hostbot is back to autohosting after a few weeks of it being disabled because the past few versions have been unstable.

Not that it's now set to auto pick Verdant Falls. While I realize this is not as popular as Stormwail, I feel it is a far better map for pub games to deal with due to its smaller size and fonts are a simpler mechanism than obelisks.

Less relevant is it also has alternate options disabled (spawn rates etc.)

I disagree, I think Verdant Falls is just as easy, if not more easy, than Verdant Falls.
Way to edit your post and make me look stupid yak.
Thanks.
