Very stupid.
And for some bizzare reason, they decided it would be fun to add region locks with no option to change or cross-realm until sometime September/October. From what I hear, the same might be applying to custom games as well, which would probably explain why the only non-melee games in the list have all been TDs to far.
Been having fun otherwise.

Also hi.

I'm really curious about the future of custom games given the current ui. In beta, only the top 5 or so most popular custom maps ever got people to join them. Anything on page 2 was utterly doomed at getting a game started.

Still waiting for my fucking copy to arrive. Damn gamestop for not shipping out early like amazon or even fucking walmart. Never buying there again.

Since when did they start re-routing people to the China server?

Seriously though, if what's stated in that thread is true, and my limited knowledge of the rating system is what it is, then i'm pretty sure ass, redneck and cripple all fall into what's covered by the T (M in aus) rating anyway. Failing that, there's that compulsary disclaimer about gameplay experience potentially exceeding that rating during online play.
Then again, looking at it from that angle, since the 'brilliant' B-Net 2.0, all custom games are hosted on the server itself rather than acting as a hub for peer-to-peer map sharing, so if a moderator believes that a service provided by the Blizzard servers is innapropriate they have the authority to act on it. Which goes back to the lack of support and information which could have filled the blanks of a template response, assuming the map was evil and twisted enough to violate the T rating in the first place.

It hadn't occurred to me till now that blizz just put themselves in the position of being a content distributor, which means they could potentialy be at risk of suit over copyright infringement (like youtube etc.). I dunno how seriously its going to be policed, or if anyone's going to seriously be looking for violations, however there is a "report map" button at the end of a game and its possible that putting them on notice for any violation would put them at risk and thus require a takedown - meaning people could report maps just to be an ass.

I would hope blizz would at least distinguish between types of map violations, like the fixable minor violations as opposed to blatent abusive content. Not that I like the idea of this shit being monitored to begin with.

If it's a free map, and there are no ads running for the map, it shouldn't be targeted for infringement. I mean it was never a problem before for Starcraft or Warcraft III. Pokemon, Bomberman, Smash TV, Mario, Tetris, Simpsons, Dragon Ball Z, LotR, Naruto, Bleach should all be familiar if you've played the two. >_>

Map hosting didn't work the same then. That compares more to using AIM to transfer files - it can do it, but has no power over the content sent. SC2 instead works more like youtube - the map is uploaded to the server, and the server sends it to whoever wants it.

When they wanted to put EotA on the BNet map of the week/hall of fame thing, that was the main question they asked, "does your map use copyrighted material?" I believe the version of DotA they posted was also stripped of all such material.

I thought DotA had Rina Inbaasu-chan

They should allow P2P mapping as an option instead of trying to be content police.

I just want to let you all know that we finally did recieve a response from Blizzard about a day or two after Ultimate Tank Defense was deleted. Apparently the problem with our map was that the wave pathing caused a certain anti-semite symbol to be displayed on the minimap. This was unintentional and we have since changed the way the units path. (You'll notice the spiffy new terrain.)
I hope Blizz doesnt ban maps for displaying protected images like the red cross created from enemies at an intersection.

Should try that out with a popular map some time.
