Make artefacts drop on death

Re: Make artefacts drop on death
you seem to have misread his statement. any hero != any hero build. the blink you gain can be achieved through other means(a consumable), as can the increased attack speed(agility, team buffs). in short, most any hero build is readily achievable without artifacts. any hero is completely playable without artifacts. the artifacts are usually such a minor boost that they are ridiculous anyway. I think i'd feel better if consumables that did the 'on use' portion of the artifacts were available. some already are (serpent wards and blink sticks), but some others would be nice. could even have the artifact shop sell them only after the artifact has been bought (what store would sell only a few items with such unique abilities without trying to duplicate them anyway?).
on the orb of fury/flurry conflict: i believe if you have the orb in the top left inventory slot, it will proc but prevent flurry from procing naturally, any other slot orb won't proc but flurry will. I believe the talent that procs flurry on an ability use can still function with the orb in the top left, though i'm not 100% sure.

Why would flurry prevent shockwave proc?
Isn't it just an IAS boost?

Re: Make artefacts drop on death
You and Ion seem to think alike. And no, I didn't misread anything. Yes, I understand no build is artifact dependent (you were aware I was even joking about Gravel I hope). Still, artifacts definitely have their place, and I am starting to wonder if you people are just a little obsessed with consumables. Yes, they are useful, and no they are not the best item in the game. Though I consider the summons to be very effective. Oh, which brings me to my point. Artifacts such as the int hammer, talisman, and blink totem work wonderfully well used with summons. Try blinking in front of an escaping Dryad, then drop a tremor and skele summons on her and laugh while the gold rolls in. Rather evil imo.you seem to have misread his statement. any hero != any hero build. the blink you gain can be achieved through other means(a consumable), as can the increased attack speed(agility, team buffs). in short, most any hero build is readily achievable without artifacts. any hero is completely playable without artifacts. the artifacts are usually such a minor boost that they are ridiculous anyway. And calling it a 'blink stick' is rather wrong.

the proc part. I think its similar to why lightning orbs/slowing orbs/poison orbs dont stack in standard tft games. i don't think it works with the bouncing attack on DS either.

Re: Make artefacts drop on death
So then I'm to understand that Swashbuckler's default attack is like a customized bounce attack but instead of a bounce there is a chance of IAS?

Re: Make artefacts drop on death
FFS, it isn't fucking complicated. Orb of Fury damage proc is an orb affect, so is Flurry. Orb effects do not normally stack, ergo they don't work together!
The bouncing thing is something completely different, but it also doesn't play nice with orb effects.

Sorry Mian, I was just trying to understand because if I'm Swash I usually try to grab the fury orb, but if it breaks his innate then I don't want to get it.
Thank you for your guidance.

He just asked a question.FFS, it isn't fucking complicated. Orb of Fury damage proc is an orb affect, so is Flurry. Orb effects do not normally stack, ergo they don't work together!
And it's stuff like this that drives newcomers away.
Anyhow, 2 ideas I'm going to throw out there on how to solve the artifact problem:
1) make them lvl required. Like your hero can purchase one every 20 lvls, starting at lvl 0.
Or....
2)make them based upon hero kills or hero XP.
Just some ideas.

Re: Make artefacts drop on death
Would there be any real objections to making this an optional game mode? I can see it being kind of an intrusive feature if it were forced into the game now but were it made into a mode we could turn on for private games (or some public test-games) we could gauge a more accurate consensus on whether or not it really makes a difference/is more fun etc.

Re: Make artefacts drop on death
I completely disagree. It would make you think more strategically about where you cast your ults and anyway I never use Garg's ult where my own troops are since most of the time enemy troops are concentrated when they're pushing (and far apart from our own troops). It would definitely be a super cool mode.Oh god, that's like the worst idea ever. Poor RK/BP/Garg/etc. with massive aoe ults.

Re: Make artefacts drop on death
While online the other week I happened to see an example of artifact whoring. While I didn't consider the person to be a newb, it was rather interesting nonetheless. I don't think it was cause for concern, and certainly not for making them drop upon death. Just thought I'd report it.
The hero was AA, had the totem, orb, and talisman I believe.
And an fyi, Lanthis is an artifact whore. He had the fury orb, totem, and flute on the inf before lvl 25 iirc. Though he was raping heroes badly beforehand.

Re: Make artefacts drop on death
yea he does tend to start arts at least in the games I've played with him =P, had a game earlier today where 3 heroes all had 2-3 arts apiece, was a little silly.

Re: Make artefacts drop on death
Possibilities:
Add a crystal cost to each Artefact. Maybe even crystal to upgrade them as well.
Limit of 1 per hero.
Some sort of extra bonus for killing a hero with an Artefact, based on how upgraded it is. Extra 1/2/3/4/5/6 crystal for example.

I agree with this idea, extra crystal awarded for each artifact a hero carries, but not so high, maybe 1 for 0/+1 2 for +2/+3 3 for +4/+5Lunargent wrote:Some sort of extra bonus for killing a hero with an Artefact, based on how upgraded it is. Extra 1/2/3/4/5/6 crystal for example.
That way, you get some amazing abilites, but your death is a bit more significant to the enemy team.
Would also discourage getting artifacts the other teams heroes will want just to deny them.

He played a Swashy vs me one time. Whoring artifacts didn't help him against our pushes.
