How do you think HoN is going to compare to League of Legends? If you don't know, Guinsoo, the former dota mapper, formed Riot Games in LA and made LoL. Have you played Demigod? I know very little about HoN...

I've played LoL and HoN. HoN more extensively than LoL but I can make a good review of both.

LoL's feel is far from DotA and it's just not that good. The camera is locked to your hero and it makes it hard to see what is going on. The graphics style is so bright and strange that it just detracts from everything you should be noticing, this seems the problem with the whole game's interface as well. The hero system is odd, but I think it could work if they were more spells that were actually useful. Your hero has a set of spells and there are 3 stock spells you can put on him, the most used being a heal and a teleportation spell. The hero's don't have much personality and I don't even know the other 9 that were used in the first game I played, I don't even the know what mine was other than "some skeleton dude". Will play once Guinsoo gives up and IceFrog takes over.yeah right

HoN's feel is that of DotA, it's a clone through and through and they spare no features from Warcraft 3. They even improve on some things shown in Warcraft 3, reconnecting to games, games hosted by server not player, etc. They take heroes from DotA and put them in just as they are, IceFrog claims he has no problem with that and I feel that SC2 Games are furthering this potentially great genre. HoN's interface is easy enough to understand. HoN's website also says it offers a custom map editor, no idea how in-depth that is going to be though.

If I were grading both I would give LoL a 6.2 and HoN a 9.6 out of ten.

I watched a Demigod "demonstration" that was being played so the DotA tournament coming on after it could set up. Demigod's action is much too slow and I couldn't even stand watching 5 minutes of it.

Due to my recent invitation to the LOL beta I found this:

If you want to unlock your camera from following only your champion, press "y".

So at least this point isnt valid.

I got into LoL recently too. Just thought I'd point out that I dislike dota, and still prefer it to LoL.

As I never really was into DotA I cant tell if LoL is better or worse, but its definitly no bad game.

They removed all bash items. Instead you have an item with 100% chance to slow for 2-3 seconds on attack.

The amount of customization is definitly quite large, but only when you have played some dozen games, I hope at least.
30 runes with the theoretical value of 30% critical and 30 talent points for even more stuff should leave some room for individualization.
Not to forget the 2 special skills you can take into battle.

The shop is even easier to use than the HoN shop if you are new. The items seem to be a bit simpler than in the other games, though. Total lack of activateable items, therefor many different passive things.

Graphics wise it used the worse colors for the interface and the engine does not even try to hide its uglyness like at HoN.

That item is in DotA, it's called the Eye of Skadi.

I mean it makes no sense to remove stun, but add/keep permanent slow instead.

You have no chance to get away if get hit once.

I've been very involved within the HoN community under an AKA. Maybe some of you may recognize it :P

More on this eventually!

The players in HoN somehow seem to be even bigger douchebags than those in DotA. If you don't already have builds for every hero memorized, expect to have people yelling at you. (Yes, even in games marked "noobs only.") I can only imagine what it must be like for somebody who's never played DotA.

Thats why its much more fun to play with people you know, I know several of us meet in the eota channel and group up for games with and against one another, it certainly more fun that playing with some elitist moron in a pub

There are still a lot of players like that, however, I've also seen a lot more people trying to educate than in dota

IT WAS A WARM AUGUST NIGHT AND THE TEAM OF OAK, UTONIUM, FARNSWORTH, AND PLUM WERE PLAYING A LITTLE HoN. MILLS LOGGED ON AND BROUGHT WITH HIM A TEAM OF FIVE, CLAN [Prof] ACCEPTED THEIR CHALLENGE WITH A RANDOM PLAYER ON THEIR TEAM, WHAT FOLLOWED WAS THE SINGLE GREATEST TOX-LOSS IN HISTORY OF AoS STYLED GAMES.

ps: clan professors does not accept rematches.

To set the record straight, the amount of booze consumed by my team was a much larger amount than that consumed by team Prof.
