Ban discussions in Off Topic

With certain members freedom of expression limited by the new "be nice" rules, there is nothing left to stop these really pointless, brainkilling discussions about really boring topics like religion, economics and politics.

The most active discussion members are these who do not actually want to discuss, they just want to force their believe on everyone else.
Obviously this forum is a pretty bad plattform to change anothers mind, resulting in endless forth and back posting, without making any progress.

So for the love of the Invisible Pink Unicorn, stop this nonsense.

First off, if you feel as though you not mature enough to contribute to those topics, then please don't post there. Just because you don't like/agree with something doesn't mean it needs to be outlawed. Here in the U.S. we believe in such, and I don't what kind of rules they have over there in Germany.

Second, you can stop the beating around the bush BS, I know exactly who you mean. And please quote me were I even mentioned forcing my so called 'religion' on anyone. If you unable to find any such posts, I will kindly ask you to fuck off and stop posting bullshit lies about me or anyone else for that matter. The topics on the economy, politics, and religion/evolution were overall, healthy and intelligent. Everyone gets a little riled about those types of things, they are important to alot of people, and yes, they actually do care and don't all think they are boring and worthless as you may.

So please stop whining about things that don't affect you. There is a simple rule here, if you don't like a thread, don't post. End rant.

P.S. If a mod feels that this post was overly offensive and a warning or such is needed, I am prepared to accept those consequences, I had to speak my mind though. :|

There are always 2 persons needed for a pointless discussion.

Also this is a poll so we can see how everybody feels. This thread is totally not about my personal feelings alone.

And dont I have the freedom of speech to tell people what I dislike? Oh right, Im not american.

I think he's concerned with the endless trolling, arguing, attacking, and perceived need to defend oneself which is the general content of the recent off topic posts... and probably only wastes time and causes ill will. In fact, this will be the last post I ever make off topic or in regards to a controversial off topic post.

Not to sound ungrateful, but I'd rather know that Darnyak was playing EOTA or working on the map than typing a well thought out rebuttal to some troll.

I'd be happy to oblige, just put it by Yak first. I think he posts out of boredom and liking to get other people in trouble when they say stupid shit.

But what will I do if someone on the internet is wrong? Let them continue being wrong?

I just wonder who the troll of Lanthis post is.

Even though it sounds more like the first one, if you start with Ions post due to some HIDDEN FUN STUFF.

On the other side, everyone but DN is sick of these discussions according to the poll.

If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything!

The Off Topic forum isn't the problem, it's DarkNemesis and the rest of the retard squad.

By the way, didn't that one vote state pretty overwhelmingly that DarkNemesis should be banned?

I want action. I want action now.

Sadly, it doesn't appear that way. He's posted since then.

Personally I think the Off Topic section doesn't need to be banned, of course I'm a little biased in that point :P . Stricter moderation is needed though. A lot of the "pointless back and forth discussion" stems from one person attacking another person or their beliefs or posts, and that person feeling obligated to defend themselves. Obviously I'm not innocent in this at all, but I think all that's needed in the Off Topic is stricter moderation. Also I only happened to find this thread by pure chance, it would be nice if the people who actively post in the Off Topic area would be told of this, seeing how it's determining the fate of the area.

I come from another forum community (www.pollama.com) where we had a "Thinking Cap" which was essentially what the Off Topic is, except with stricter moderation, it actually affected people (even if sometimes it was in a small way). The Thinking Cap was eventually banned due to a lack of moderation (the ex-moderator of that part of the forum went inactive), and replaced with an even stricter Debate Forum (I'd say it's a ghost town, but that would imply that it was once active). Why did I tell you this? I ask for stricter moderation in Off Topic, but it would be nice to keep in mind that we're all human and have emotions which sometimes spill over when they should be kept in check.

Surprisingly this seems to be something I agree with DN on.

My hope is that between all the stupid and the msn/google bots constantly reading these forums it'll cause them to mutate/evolve into crazy angry sentient beings with opposite viewpoints.
