The buff Mana Residue behaves quite oddly when applied to units, through testing of my own, I've noticed that it behaves like Spirit Link, in that all the units with Mana Residue take damage when one unit with Mana Residue is attacked, be it with a physical or magical attack. It is also worth noting that the unit being attacked doesn't take full damage, nor do any of the units with Mana Residue when the damage is split.
This is especially annoying when the enemy team has a rune knight, if you happen to get Mana Residue on you, any damage your units take will get redirected to you; resulting in the damage from Siphon Glyph AND the redirected damage, so you could easily go from relatively high health to quite low, but the shared damage can't kill you, and the Mana Residue debuff falls off when you get to 1 health.

Ahhh so THAT'S what it was. I always thought it was just some odd dmge over time buff!
