Re: HostEm: Admin List, Admin/Bot Rules & Abuse Report
No offense, but I don't really want to pick up admin just because they're on a lot or are suggested by some person I'm unfamiliar with.
I also don't want to bother going on playing EotA just to evaluate potential admins.
So I'll go somewhere between careless and careful. I'll let the admins pick out of the hat who should be an admin.
So admins... Find me about 4 worthy admins who fit the criteria of the listed rules.

Re: HostEm: Admin List, Admin/Bot Rules & Abuse Report
I understand you concern about recruiting new admins, and I know I haven't been very active on the forums; however, I do have over 500 games played and am very familiar with the current people that play. Along with BanEvasion (478 games), Thermie (309 games), and TwinKilla04 (183 games, not sure how thats possible because he is lvl 20, I might have the wrong numbers after the name), I would also recommend Invisible-east (575 games) and FabledHunter (193 games). If you have any questions about the people I have recommended ask previous admins or ask me on US East (I use the same name: Servedogg)

You realize you can play EotA without the bot, right?

I apologize, it was late when I made my first reply to this post and didn't fully read it. That seems to be a good approach.GeneralFunk wrote:No offense, but I don't really want to pick up admin just because they're on a lot or are suggested by some person I'm unfamiliar with.

attempting to use admin commands now that the bot has been updated has failed, are the commands different or do the admins need to be readded?
Re: HostEm: Admin List, Admin/Bot Rules & Abuse Report
I don't remember adding you. However, I did forget to copy over the user data base file.

Agreed with serve, id like to see Banevasion, myself and Airbup made moderators.
As long as the list is most of you are rarely on or ingame, especially late night when 3v3/4v4/ games would be very very nice seeing they NEVER fill.

You gaining admin won't make the games fill, bro

Re: HostEm: Admin List, Admin/Bot Rules & Abuse Report
Its not about games filling. Its about games starting. If there is a good 4v4 setup, then there is no reason to wait another 30 min for two more players to join.
One of the reason that the community is shrinking is because no new player is going to wait an hour to play a game they haven't seen before. If you give some of the current player base admin status, maybe some more people will become interested in eota.

I'm this forum's MVP.

Your right. Maybe someone as wise as you could explain to my feeble mind the point of having a bunch of admins that don't even play the game.Discombobulator wrote:You need to manner up right now.servedogg wrote:Its not about games filling. Re: HostEm: Admin List, Admin/Bot Rules & Abuse Report
You can start up as many 4v4 games that you want, it will not make the clan flourish. The bot may have given many people a way to enjoy the game, but it has done nothing to really help the community behind the game. The community growing would be shown by many new people joining the forums or the clan channel, and neither have happened since the hostbot.

You seem to forget that clan != community. Though I suppose a majority of the people who participate in improving and testing the map are in the clan, since clan invites are like nothing. And well people accept them like it's nothing. In which case, it's merely coincidence.jamn455 wrote:You can start up as many 4v4 games that you want, it will not make the clan flourish. Where do you think Banevasion came from? <_<jamn455 wrote:The community growing would be shown by many new people joining the forums or the clan channel, and neither have happened since the hostbot.
Before running host bot and back when I played, I had my own community, a friends list for people who wanted to see when I hosted. It actually went up to 20 people. It was getting more and more regulars. Availability is a HUGE factor in obtaining regulars, as well as keeping them. I remember one point giving up EotA for a while since it took forever to get a game going even with doing 3on3s.
Re: HostEm: Admin List, Admin/Bot Rules & Abuse Report
So add some more admins so we can try again to get some new people playing. It needs to start off small like 3v3 so people don't have to wait
for too long for a game to start and later can become a regular player.
And I totally agree Admins should at least play the game.

Re: HostEm: Admin List, Admin/Bot Rules & Abuse Report
Hi there,
Can I suggest myself to be a hostem's moderator? my bnet nick in game is Df1-Jouven, I'm an old player of Eota =) and I play regularly (I try to).

It has been done. Didn't really want to risk adding his "evil twin brother" or whatnot.
