Codes Carry over from versions?

Codes Carry over from versions?
Ive only been playing for a short time, and i started with 1.12C, i have about 25 games played right now, and i was just wondering if you have to start over each version?

Barring some extreme event, codes will always be compatable.
There may be a redo of them in the future to replace it with a more robust system, but a way to convert old codes to new will be provided should that happen. The most likely route will be all codes being updated through the EotA bot (which, unfortunately, isn't working at the moment, and no ETA on when it will return)
