i know people can because people will come and D/l but then they leave

Maybe your gamename is bad.
On europe we stick to "[AoS] Eve of the Apocalypse".
Or hand around in the clan channel and get some people there to play with you, the more players you have in a game, the less is the chance that someone leaves after download. And if you are really desperate, greet everyone who joins and maybe even talk a bit with them to build up a personal connection that makes them stay.

maybe my problem is im trying on USeast and its like 4am over there? lol but ya usually i just use that game name. I hang around in the clan EotA channel on east too...
btw the Bot is MIA, wonder what happened to it?

Based on this thread's time, that's almost always a dry time with joins. Usually it's best to try Lordaeron(USWest) at that time.
