No when someone captures hostages on domestic soil they won't be getting out of the situation alive, we don't tolerate that crap and we shouldn't either. The only thing being nice to people that have no fundamental respect for human life does is encourage them to continue to act in a way that jeopardizes other people and usually themselves. Stupidity like that won't accomplish as much good as you seem to thing it will.

In the US, police don't shoot unless the hostage taker is an imminent threat. Most hostage situations end completely peacefully and no one dies.

That looks like its standing on carpet, thus not very large, thus if it isn't a model its not very scary. Japan's, on the other hand, towers above trees and has a jetpack.

That's not Carpet, that's a crowd of Kim's nation, and it's a very cloudy day, so it's a grey-like background.

The U.S. military is tracking a flagged North Korean ship suspected of proliferating weapons material in violation of a U.N. Security Council resolution passed last Friday
So things could get interesting.
Of course, as always, the UN is known for its strong resolutions fixing the problems of the world:
The resolution would not allow the United States to board the ship forcibly. Rather, U.S. military would have to request permission to board -- a request North Korea is unlikely to grant.

Because the US doesn't have the right to inspect another nation's ship in international waters.
How would you feel if someone forcibly inspected your ships? You are, after all, the world's #1 aggressor nation.
