Open some random folder --> Organize --> Folder and Search Options --> View --> Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"

Probably better to just right click the file and edit the name under properties.

Since no body has asked this question yet, is your Warcraft 3 legally bought? With your knowledge of computers thus far, I need to clarify this.

I'm sure no one asked, because if it wasn't legal, an honest answer probably wouldn't be given. It also seems not necessary to ask. If you mean "is someone else using it online?" I'd think that'd be the forward question to ask.

Did that, now what?
once you have saved the file, right click it and hit 'rename'

delete the .txt off the end of the name so it only has warcraft3.reg

then double click it
First off, what am I saving this to? It has notepad as the default. And I can't rename it under that.

And it has save as and open as.

It's a cracked version, I think. Just a copy/paste deal from a friends comp. And with your knowledge of the English language, you might.

I'm hoping where Jamn455 was going with this, is to suggest downloading an install from Blizzard's site, which requires the CD Keys on hand to do.

No, I was getting at calling him a fucking retard for trying to get a cracked version with cracked cd-keys to work on battle.net.

Though cracked can just mean "no cd" from his friend's legit key installation. Which isn't legal, but would still work online.

So is this gonna work, or not? I'm getting tired of fighting with you guys.

To fix your registry:

Download:
http://ingame.ingame.de/filebase/index. ... 85&cid=445

It sounds like you can unzip things, so do that.

Run LWT.exe or just LWT with the TFT icon if you have no file extensions shown, click on the Registry tab, locate your WC3 exe, click the large button labled "Make entrys".

That should hopefully fix your registry and allow you to patch.

Or best yet, has your friend fix it up.

Since everyone is trying to solve world hunger, I'll ask.

Why is this in Offtopic and not something like general discussion?

So when I'm extracting them, do I copy/paste them to the w3 file or what?

Try extracting that to its own folder, not over wc3's stuff

I don't know if this bnet thing is gonna work. I had some stuff that came up, plus its taking a long time to get into the damn battlenet. And my slow internet is another factor. Might try again in about 2 weeks. Going on a long trip with friends/family. Wont be around for a while. Sorry.

So I can get onto Bnet now with the new version I got from my friend, yet the autobot is repeatedly kicking me. Think it may be the slow internet.

...sigh, oh well, I'll try to get on at my friend's house with his high-speed fiber.
