If not, he missed a great deal on Dell Latitudes... coulda done 3.06ghz centrino 2, nvidia quadro 170, 1080p screen, 8gb ram for like 900 bucks

Nope, gonna wait until I've got the money. Too, I would like to get Windows 7, which comes out in October iirc.
Dells scare me, I've heard some bad things about them. And I've kinda got my heart set on a Sony VIAO.

My Dell laptop(Inspiron9300) is going on 4 years now and I haven't had many, if any, problems whatsoever. My battery did die after about one year. However, I barely used it off of the AC adapter. Sony makes good products though. Also, from what I've heard skipping straight to Windows 7 is probably not a bad choice.

Most laptops you buy now offer a free upgrade to Windows 7 in October when you buy them anyway.
