What progam was EotA made in?
I noticed that you use different tilesets. I was wondering how you went about this. I have hear about programs that let you do things not achievable in the normal World Editor such as World Editor Unlimited. I was wondering what program was used to make EotA or if anyone knows any programs to allow me to use differing tilesets.
Re: What progam was EotA made in?
WEU (World Editor Unlimited) does in fact let you use up to 13 tiles, including cliff tiles.
I think NewgenJass allows you to use more, but I don't know how.

Unmodified world editor for the most of it, although I updated to jass new gen for the recent versions.

Is there a way to turn off tileset limits in the original world editor?
Re: What progam was EotA made in?
No, I think they're built in becuase they can cause significant performance issues, although better computers obviously can handle it.

In the main windows ( terrain editor ), at the top there are is one menu point called "Advanced". There you can find the point "Edit Tileset" or something similiar.

Oh wow, now I look like an idiot. I am horribly mistaken. I thought EotA used cliff types from different tilesets....

They could use work.Dekar wrote:Just shows how good Yaks terraining skill is.
Although they are pretty good terrains.

If you're refering to the fact that i don't spam imported doodads, that's a concious design choice. Most maps I see people rave about the terrain do this, but I don't like it. If you're refering to something else, ignore this but feel free to elaborate.Gilles wrote:They could use work.Dekar wrote:Just shows how good Yaks terraining skill is.

I would only ever suggest imported trees, but as it is, I would leave your terrain alone for now. Although one big thing I noticed, you use straight paths, while I find it looks better if you have them weave a bit. Kind of hard to explain.
Here are a couple not-so-good examples (a mod I did some terrain for).

Notice how the paths are not perfect. I prefer them that way, but I suppose that's just preference. Mostly though, I think you did an awesome job with the terrain. You kept it simple, well playable, and still looking good.
Here is one heck of a good terrain for an AoS. Made by one of the best terrainers I know. I wish I was this good. Some of it isn't as good s other parts. I have a feeling he wasn't done though.

Re: What progam was EotA made in?
Humans almost always prefer to make straight paths assuming no terrain features block it. Further, pathing gets messy ;P Won't deny they could be more curvey over longer distances.
The screenshots for that aos do look really nice.

Roads are often straight in real life, but I've found real life doesn't always look good in wc3.DarnYak wrote:Humans almost always prefer to make straight paths assuming no terrain features block it. Further, pathing gets messy ;P Won't deny they could be more curvey over longer distances.
