I'm beginning to think Nexon has forgotten about Kart Rider, it's been a month and not a single update to the Kart Rider website. Who wants to learn Korean so we can play their version

You need a Korean social security number to play the korean version.

I need to mini rant here. And I want to preface this with not being against koreans. But by god do I hate korean game companies (at least, from what i've seen from 5 or so games that have come out of korea). They lock their own version to be korean only, but dont lock any of the non korean versions to anyone else, their customer service for non korean versions is utter crap, they dont even seem to police the non-korean version, and often the non-korean versions are months to years behind the korean version for absolutely no reason (you don't need to rewrite the whole game to bring it to a new country guys). So fuck you korean game companies.

And I'll leave it at that rather then going into a long detailed rant. And yes, I have examples to back up all my statements if you insist I defend them.

At GDC, I remember hearing a statistic of like 5 new MMOs in Korea every month. They are in crazy competition over there, so I bet resources are stretched a little thin. Still, it does not take much to translate a game if you use a language DLL.

However, from what I can tell, Nexon didn't do that with KartRider. (Still a noob when it comes to commercial game dev, just going by what I've read in books.) If I'm right, they have to translate not only the content, but all of the hard-coded strings in the executable(s).

Even if this were the worst case, it still doesn't require a re-write from the ground up. I mean come on, the english version didn't even have friends list, or other major features the korean version has. It seems htier quite litterlay rebuilding it from their original steps.

And even assuming every text was hard coded and had to be redone...this is fucking Kart Rider. There isn't massive amounts of text here.

Furthermore, even the chinese version is extreemly far behind, but the only real changes are a vast amount of maps (20ish in chinese vs 90 in korean). Well, i'm sure there's other stuff, like new karts and such, but nothing i've heard says the game was fundimentaly altered in a way that would cause that kind of delay. It seems apparent their trying to release things over a set time frame, for no clear reason I can see other then letting koreans always be the speical ones with new shit.

It took them this long to put a sticky up about it being closed.
I guess at this rate we'll get to play in about 4-5 years

I caved and downloaded Popkart (the chinese version). I expect this will rapid speed up the release of the american version

For the three fields on the registration page that aren't on the translation, they are:

That was after his 12 game or so in a row in which he fucking came from behind to win at the very last second, due to almost always a perfectly timed magnet pickup, but occationaly amissile or fly.

Anytime the situation was reversed i got something like a stupid cloud. Yea, thanks cloud, this will help me come in first.

Popkart is a more-than-adequate substitute for Kart Rider. I approve.

[edit]I do have to reinstall it every time I want to play it, though, which is kind of a let-down. I suppose it's worth it, though. Also worth noting: Seeding 16 torrents is hazardous to your kart riding experience[/edit]

Also, it appears some things are universal...

That's really bizzare.

So far my experiences have been sorta weird. Noone talks in general, so noone realizes I don't know what their saying. Last night, it was me/wootz/some random sucky americna player were doing team games and completely dominating them. Of course then as soon as they won one game they booted us all from the game...for doing to well of being american, I dunno. They seem to like kicking if you do too well though. Lots of bad players ,maybe the higher channels are better.

Well, I dont mean to be too hard on him. Its fucking item mode after all, SOMEONE gets fucked over, and they get really fucked over if their the only target in range.

We got another patch, looks like another factory level, lobby, and possibly flag mode.
Can't be sure until I actually try the game though

On another note the average IQ of the nexon forums seems to be lower than ours
