New Stormwail Fountain location

#1 Post by DarnYak »

New Fountain.jpg
Obviously similar at its mirror location. Note i'm aware of the possible side effects of its location, but I want to see if they're as bad as speculated, or if the positive effects outweigh it.

I also realize it somewhat makes the gob shop there less important, since you could always buy salves instead, but i think they're a bit distinct enough to see how this plays out. The new hill's not going away even if the fountain gets moved back (or elsewhere).

I guess. But I'm wondering why move it?

Almost noone used it in its previous location? Its nearness to the road made it prone to drawing enemy spawns if you're on the opposing team, and if you're on the friendly team you have a much safer base slightly down the road anyway.

Great, so now EotA is gonna turn into a huge battle over a stupid fountain.

Its just like the obs and some of the heroes, why radically change things if people are satisfied with the current setup? I.E. obs locations/certain heroes (gravel).

I don't forsee there being a giant battle over that fountain. All i forsee is the possible risks of making it either too easy to siege that base, or alternatively too easy to defend the bridge.

And I change it because new elements change the dynamics of things and add interesting elements. If it doesn't do anything then its irrelevant, if its detremental i can revert it in 30 seconds, if its positive then everyone wins.

The only problem I have is with the bridge being right there. Bridges are huge fucking choke points.

Its really not that much farther then the corresponding fountain near bottom.

I hated where the fountains used to be, they were only useful if you had a flying hero and you were defending middle or something.

I have to say I'm not a fan.

Being so close to the base, it'd seem to me that the defenders more than the attackers would receive bonuses from the fountain, making those lanes even easier to defend and even more difficult for the offensive team to hold the given obelisk.

My worry too, just want to see how it plays out.

Not a fan. It takes away from the salves and it means you almost never get the hall upgraded. It hasn't lead to any camping heroes, but it did lead to the BP getting enough mana to fire off another Firestorm.

I don't think it necessarily leads to "uselessness" of out of combat potions, since for one, it only applies to that area (obviously), plus you can stack out of combat heals with it healing faster.

I see pubs build gens all the time.

But it is true that sometimes some of them just leave them disabled forever :(

Pubs build gens because they don't know they sap your EXP gain.

To defeat the enemy, shoot him and don't let him shoot you.

So many people don't do that, it's not much of a protip.
