Too many of same item type overflow change
Too many of same item type overflow change
Simple change to (as per the title) what happens when you buy too many of the same item type. If it is exactly the same item, attempt to upgrade the item by one level with their funds. If it is a different item, possibly attempt to upgrade the first item anyway, or at least automatically sell the item. If upgraded, display a message like

Something to stop finding orb of furys next to the artefact shop would be in place.

Re: Too many of same item type overflow change
Changing the way it works wouldn't be bad though. Reading "Can only wear a single orb!" doesn't prevent misclicks and such.
What could be done is the item gets removed, and the player gets their money back, if it's an artifact then just re-add it to the Marketplace.

I think Yak should remove that option, don't see why its bad to have two orbs or two armors.Perhaps wrote:Changing the way it works wouldn't be bad though. Reading "Can only wear a single orb!" doesn't prevent misclicks and such.

Re: Too many of same item type overflow change
Because their cost and stats are balanced around only being able to have one of a type.
Early versions didn't have the restriction (although it also didn't have the same items). Some disguisting results occurred like Gravel buying all regen items with HotM increasing it by a futher %, and he was permenantly regenerating massive amounts of health.

Yes, but this was before you implemented the talents.DarnYak wrote:Because their cost and stats are balanced around only being able to have one of a type.

Too, just because you can buy four of the same item doesn't mean you will. Four health orbs may make Gravel unkillible but hes useless otherwise.

Re: Too many of same item type overflow change
Talents would not make a difference.
There is no way anyone would want to play eota if the item type limits were removed.
That limit is one of the most balancing aspects of the game and needs no modification.

Re: Too many of same item type overflow change
A quick example of what DarnYak means by "balanced for type."
Sorcerer's Armor vs Ring of Wisdom
Total Cost: [+5]
Sorcerer's Robe: 2625 gold
Ring of Wisdom: 3500 gold
Winner: Sorcerer's Robe
Bonus Intelligence: [+5]
Sorcerer's Robe: +35 int
Ring of Wisdom: +30 int
Winner: Sorcerer's Robe
Sorcerer's Robe costs less and gives you more intelligence than Ring of Wisdom. Also Sorcerer's Robe gives armor while Ring of Wisdom doesn't. What the ring has that the Robes don't have is the ability to stack them. Though needless to say it doesn't mean you'll do "ring + ring," you'll if anything do "robes + ring." This is Yak wanting to have an item that offers both armor and intelligence, but wanting that to stop at some point, while still offering a way to continue piling up intelligence.
Yak you whore, using DarkNemesis's comment to avoid mine. -_-

Ah, according to Yak, they would. And if they don't, why put them there?Reaper wrote:Talents would not make a difference.

Re: Too many of same item type overflow change
The balance between heroes might be ok with no limits, but hero vs creep would be severely messed up.
