Yeah, you really should. Someone on allegro.cc got hired to be a designer for the next DoW game, and (as far as I know) he didn't have any previous experience on the inside. And they'd probably be more likely to hire someone who makes good use of their tools and can give them good feedback. (And, of course, produces very high-quality work :D)
