General Afflictions

#1 Post by Perhaps »

I personally think that general afflictions would be a neat idea. And by that I mean status affects most moves would get. So far I have two ideas for general afflictions, concussion and bleeding. Concussion would slow attack speed and move speed and bleeding would function as a DOT. How it would work out is abilities would have stronger versions of them than others. Like Lunge would have like level 8 concusion and level 8 bleeding while Gale would have level 6 concussion 0 bleeding and so forth.

THIS IS A GREAT IDEA!!!!!

But in all seriousness, its fucking lame. I have seen this is numerous maps, and it is a shitty system to implement. Fenris has a move that basically creates a concussion-like condition, its called hamstring. But we could give a hero killer more opportunities to not suck horribly, or they could just learn to play better.

The intent is to add a new dimension of balance to abilities, make decrease the odds of someone escaping with 20 health or so, and to further validate dispel moves.

The majority of people cannot get the few dimensions in the game as is, why would it be good to add another.

In all seriousness I think EotA is kinda closed off enough from new players, agreeing with jamn I'd say that they don't need another set of features that make the learning curve even steeper.

Why bother cattering to them? I think EotA is even more simplistic than DotA is. I really don't think adding or removing is going to change that. It only seems "complex" to them simply because it's not what is familure to them. In perspective the only way to make it quickly understandable to them would be making it a three lane map with item recipes and attribute bonus skill for all heroes.

Why bother catering to all of your requests and ideas?

Almost a good question, I mean why bother? Well it's pretty simplistic. People have ideas, people share ideas. Be it acknoledgement or not, they're there. Another reason is: stupid or not, innovation doesn't come from a silent stool.

Well this idea can not be described as innovative since I have seen it used in other warcraft maps.
