New game mode idea

#1 Post by Setokaiva »

I came up with the idea for a new mode for EotA while i was checking out the large map for Stormwail Peak in the Wiki. Add a mode where the game becomes an FFA, and the entire map is split up into multiple outposts, each belonging to a single player. They rule their little corner of the land with impunity, and can of course conquer other territories. The owners of an outpost will be able to change their own spawn paths, build towers, capture points, etc. It would have many of the original mechanics of the regular mode, including Energy and Tower Cores, etc.

basically the players pick a hero, pick an outpost to rule, start out with a basic town hall and a couple towers and whatever, and go conquer stuff from there. Definitely a twist from the original AoS mode, but i think it could work somehow. Let me know what you think.

Could work, but anyone who can forge an alliance and pick a hero killer would essentially win though :/

And then there is the thing about how games can really only progress with creeps and pathing them would be kinda weird with more than 4 players.

Cool sounding idea, but I doubt it would be possible to implement well.

Would need a couple less players to have more AI factions.

Great idea, though as Reaper put it, could be very hard to balance out evenly.

I know lol... everything sounds wierd, unworkable, unbalanced or whatever until you try it. But you're right, it probably would be a bit iffy. Still, though, an interesting thought.

lol it could probably even make an entirely new map with that idea... reminds me a bit of Shadow Wars.

Not a terrible idea, although heroes would need to be worked out a little bit to get that to work, and a new map would probably make things MUCH nicer for that.

Do I smell an EotA: Frontiers? Lolwut???
"L4D2 promises to set a new benchmark for co-op games. . ." Like L4D promised to hand us new maps, survivors, and zombies? We've seen how that works.

I've considered doing something like this long ago, but it's just not realistic to do without massive changes in how the underlying stuff works. Not to mention the terrain layout just doesn't fit so well.

Battle for Maelaru is a three-way AoS.
