Re: Needed in almost all maps
We get it. You learned JASS. Go learn C++ and don't come back until you can tell me in detail what the performance implication of const and mutable are, especially when dealing with an RAII class.

Yeah, you might want to ask Wog about that. Apparently I look like a zombie to him.Elreth wrote:do you think the friendly fire damage is increased much on it?

I like it when your teammate doesn't give you the fucking pills when you fucking ask for them at 10 fucking health and then fucking shoots you after damn near all the zombies are down. But I'm not bitter. Our team completed the first level on expert on like our 3rd try.

Re: Left 4 Dead
Just beat the demo for the first time. Not bad, it was pretty intense in some moments. Overall, though, it felt kind of flat, except for one obviously pre-scripted moment. So, "The Director," while a good marketing term, is not really a stunning success in my book. Admittedly, I was playin...

Re: JASS Question
You looked like you were talking about variables in general, not global variables. Having a global with class scope doesn't really make sense, since then it's not really a global. I could see if they were using "globals" in a class to be an equivalent to "static" in other languag...

Re: JASS Question
I don't know JASS, but if declarations are separate from initializations, I'd say it goes like this:
Code: Select all
globals
integer array A // A variable that can refer to any array of integers.
endglobals
...
A = new integer array[9] // Assign it to this specific array, of length 5.

Re: Preset hero builds
In theory, players should be highly reactive to the current situation and change their strategy accordingly.
In practice, it's just a race to see who can finish their OMGWTFPWN strategy first.
Presets help the latter, but destroy the former.

Re: Preset hero builds
I don't see any point in making the game play itself. If there's only one way to play a hero, then the hero should be re-designed, otherwise let them figure out how they want to play it.

That didn't come across as very Indian aside from the music.
It came across more like some idiots who decided to be culturally sensitive and celebrate diversity and some other hippie bullshit, and wound up insulting Indian dance in the process. Way to irony, you fucking treehuggers.

Coincidentally, perhaps before kicking, EotA should say "THIS IS EOTA" and then kick?
Or perhaps do that when someone says "This is madness"...

Re: Suggestions from a real life game designer
Yeah, if the hero building thing was adopted, I would still want a worker too. But like I said, just example solutions. Anything that makes it so the player understands all the options available to them is good. One thing that definitely needs special attention is making sure new players know how im...
