Re: Board Warning Issued?????????????

Its not any fun without getting anyone else into it. Its really not a problem with administration, I was wondering if anyone else had gotten one of these. Warnings aren't intended to be fun. They're intended to be an alternative to using bans as anything but a last resort. Many other people have re...

Re: Site Move

phpBB Release Candidate 5 came out two days ago, and I've upgraded these forums accordingly.

Still no word on MediaWiki 1.11.0, though: Mid-August release my ass. :(

Re: Board Warning Issued?????????????

Unless your name is Tehw00tz (which I very highly doubt because something like that would get to the media) you're already anonymous. You are not anonymous: You are pseudonymous. Everybody here has a name. It's not your real name, but it is a persistent identity. This is not a free-for-all message ...

Is it from a pack? If so, where can I get it? I'm not going to add smilies unless I know how they're licensed.

Re: Internal Server Errors

This is a result of FastCGI (I switched to it along with eAccelerator ). I've generally just ignored the occasional error, since things are several times faster with fcgi, but since I have people complaining on this site and another site I run, I'll see what I can do about it. On the other site ( Ho...

Re: SC2 Level Designer employment

Good use of doodads and terrain texture to make the map look organic and esthetically pleasing --they spelled aesthetically wrong Æ or ae can be shortened to e in English, you know. I hadn't seen it done with that word before, but that doesn't make it wrong. :) Well organized and bug free triggers ...

Maybe we should network shop a little before we settle down? I'm a Freenode man, but I'd be curious about what people's favorite networks are.

Re: Site Move

I've upgraded the forums to Release Candidate 4, which came out a few hours ago.

Too bad the 1.11.0 release of MediaWiki was pushed back; maybe we'll finally get the long-awaited bitfields for deleted revisions and revision tagging this August!

Re: Site Move

I've done a bit more optimization on the wiki: It now no longer records/displays the number of times each pages has been viewed. This has knocked the average request time down from 137 ms to 96 ms, though if people miss having page views displayed, I'll change it back.

Re: EotA--false appearance of depth...

I've gone through this discussion in the past, and I should bring this here again: is losing an outpost causing you to lose the game, or is losing the game causing you to lose the outpost? In more or less every game i've seen where we surrender after one outpost goes down, its because we're losing ...

Re: Site Move

Icky double post, wanted to say I do wish the home page had a little more splash to it. You know, maybe some kind of montage of eota images, a gravel for president banner, some transparent screenshots of pyroclasm, maybe the created by darnyak pic from startup, stuff like that. I'm still getting to...

So why does everyone look at frames like its the plague? if you know what your doing the shit is easy to put together. It is the people who don't know their head from a hole in the ground that bad mouth frames. The reason i went with frames is because many of the pages have a lot of info on it and ...

Re: Site Move

I have added eAccelerator caching to the wiki. It was pleasant to set up, but it should be worth it: My benchmarks indicate an enormous improvement in page load speed: The caching cut the load time on the main page by as much as 2/3 or 3/4. Though it wasn't my focus, the caching has also cut page lo...

Re: Site Move

Alright, nobody has leapt up and volunteered to redesign the site, so I've decided to do it myself: The new site is now on the front page (the old one is in /old_site/ for now). I haven't changed the look much, but it now uses standards-compliant XHTML and CSS, rather than a mash of frames and font ...

Re: How to Help Starters!

For the tutorial you could link all those together in a visual cinematic that does a quick fly by. The current cinematic is out-dated and has been since the other maps have come in to play. No one watches it, not even people who are curious because there is always at least one person who doesn't wa...

You can't attack your allies to take down the bases anyways. Actually, you CAN attack allied units and structures. It cancels your attack, sure, but with fast enough units, you can do damage before it's actually canceled. And it's easy to continue spamming the attack as well. This doesn't make up f...

It might be possible by using whatever methods Wikipedia's navigation popups use, but I would have no idea how to adapt the code from them, let alone program something from scratch.

You could ask the owners of the forum you linked to what they use.
