Re: EotA: Twilight NY.1 Download

@Setokaiva: These versions are generally intended to shove more balance into EotA (though it's more likely that I'll end up making certain heroes even more overpowered). Bugfixes are also an important priority. Thanks for the offer, but textfixes are a really low priority for me and I pretty much ag...

Re: EotA: Twilight NY.1 Download

I've uploaded another version, hopefully with the buff system fixed (my own playtesting hasn't shown anything weird, but well it's EotA). I've also snuck in some other changes to this version that I'll post later on the wiki.

EotA: Twilight NY.1 Download

So Yak gave me an open-source version of the map to work on. So I did.
Changes: Version NY.1

Let me know of the new bugs that have popped out or stuff to be disliked.

Re: EotA Fantasy Balance

Gold miner life reduced from 600 to 300. Is this just to make them more vulnerable? I think the life should be kept as is so that greedy players waste their nukes on them instead of using their nukes to be more helpful to the team. Hero Attack Generator damage increased and attack range decreased t...

Re: Grading Heroes

I don't think there is a single hero who can score an A on "basic play" =S (I don't think it's a bad thing though) Yes, it most likely just indicate how complex heroes are in EotA. I would say in general that ranged heroes are easier to use in basic play thanks to their easier time in the...

Grading Heroes

Yak wanted me to grade heroes based on some categories. So I did. Basic Play : Describes how effectively beginning and intermediate players can use the hero. Other players are assumed to not be accustomed to EotA in general and may not know how to play against the hero. A low learning curve is a goo...

Re: EotA: Twilight 1.17b2 Download

DS: Tried a Totems/Doll/Expunge build in a computer game. Doll is actually a decent harassment tool if you somehow manage to stack DS with Agi (a bit doable since DS can farm with Fire Totem and bouncing attack) and mainly use it to hit enemy heroes with low health. I'm unsure if it would actually b...

Re: bnet official servers not working?

So anyway like I said earlier, let's meet up in the Europe realm. I'm waiting with a bot in channel EotA since Clan EotA is restricted for some reason lol Clan EotA doesn't exist. Let's make that our backup whenever Azeroth fails us.

Earlier Game Time

So would any of the regulars want weekend games to start earlier (let's say 1-2 hours)? I'm bringing this up since it gets really late in Europe by the time we usually finish. Voice your objections too if you have any.

Personally I wouldn't mind though I might have to afk for lunch.

Re: Need feedback on balancing Str heroes vs the rest

So what do people do think about how option #2 (adding health to items) has played out? I'm of the mind that casters have benefited the most as they now have more leeway in pressuring other heroes and are less prone to getting killed. They're also the most likely to get items first. Basically their ...

Re: EotA: Twilight 1.17b2 Download

Reduce Tether's damage (actually hard to get out of range). Reduce Neutralize's damage. For this, I would argue that the damage scaling should be lowered as the AoE and duration of nets scale to compensate. Edit 1: Nerf Mindgem sleep. Remove bomb gen cheesing strategy against Blue on Storm (complete...

AoO's Mechanic

First off this is all based on the issue of Inf needing some buffs. She's been left mostly unchanged while other heroes have gained new abilities that let them thwart PKers more easily and almost all heroes have much more health thanks to items. Now consider AoO's mechanic: 1. A modifier is calculat...

Re: EotA: Twilight 1.17b2 Download

Retribution's special effect does not disappear if it is interrupted by silences. The actual effect itself does seem to end. Note that the special effect does go away if Retribution is used without getting interrupted. @Jou: CS's Int Dominant Blow has been changed in this version. EDIT: Tidal Curse ...

Re: EotA: Twilight 1.17b2 Download

Spiritwatcher Totem can't be cast at range. Also it doesn't grant unobstructed vision, though that can be fixed by setting the movement to Fly without causing targeting issues. EDIT: By the way, Fluster still fails to affect certain units. Giving an ability based off of Channel seems to work well as...

Re: EotA: Twilight 1.17b Download

It already should be (among all players, which isn't really correct admittedly). Ah okay. It would be nice if there was also a message that states how much gold each player would receive. What do you think of adding an invulnerable duration (1s) to Mesmerize? Why? Same reasons for other sleeps: pre...

Re: Number Changes Suggestion

The skills you mentioned aren't even deathblows. Lunge and Dominant Blow already hit fliers. The explanation for those melee skills is that those heroes can jump to attack the fliers while the others wouldn't. I actually would prefer all skills to hit fliers but that's one of the advantages Yak has ...

Re: Number Changes Suggestion

Are you thinking of a particular deathblow when you mention that? Most of the remaining spells that can't hit fliers are mostly like that because it doesn't make "sense" with the ability.

Updated.

Changes:
8/19/14
  • Cleaned up post due to Yak addressing them in 1.17b. By address, it means Yak did something to show that he's paying attention to this thread.
  • Added new stuff which is near bottom of list.

Re: Macro balance, AKA make the other maps more like storm-g

If these maps were more like Storm or Gloom, it seems kind of pointless to have the maps in the first place. I think the main point of having different maps in EotA is to encourage a different emphasis on macro or PvP. The three maps that you mentioned are smaller and thus are more reasonable to hav...

Re: [Ability Idea] Focused Haste

The prioritizing is an interesting gimmick but I'm not convinced that it would get used well. To make the prioritizing actually matter, there would need to be a lot of some unit-type which generally just means a common unit-type like the melee units in a regular push. However, I would usually want t...

Re: Number Changes Suggestion

One ghost every five seconds doesn't really put much pressure on anyone. Yeah there's a lot of randomness involved with Haunt so it's not easy seeing it be that strong. Instead of being a nuke, I see Haunt as a really cheap harassment spell (easy to cast on enemies with no repercussions and can't b...

Re: EotA: Twilight 1.17 Download

Nausea can't be dispelled (this may be intentional if it's considered "physical" in some way) It's classified as an injury so it gets dispelled by heals. EDIT: Let me add some other stuff here so Yak will know EotA1 is never complete. AoO can get less than 75% minimum on a stunned target....
