EotA for Heroes of Newerth?
Heroes of Newerth is an upcoming "dota clone", made on the engine for Savage 2. It looks nice and has a lot of good features... the savage 2 engine (k2) has a map editor and scripting support. Curious if you've any inclination to port your work to a friendlier engine. PM me if you (Yak) ar...

Re: Warcraft III patch "the hell?"
Once I tried to make EotA a 6v6 capable game! I was going to parse the file out, and try to replace every occurrence of the cpu players to be players 13/14, juggle the slots so that 1-5, 7-11 were on the right team, then finally try to duplicate every bit of script specific to the other players. It ...

Re: Warcraft III patch "the hell?"
I wouldn't be so sure. I think it might be the start of a series of wc3 patches, as a part of shoring up battle.net for sc2.Stexe wrote:I doubt we will be seeing another WC3 patch for a long, long time (unless it is a minor one to fix stability issues or the rune/tome bug).

Re: Warcraft 4 and EotA - Will you make us happy?
Yak needs to comment on what he does and on what he doesnt, but there are always other wheels turning n working ya know. I dunno what you are going on about here. I don't feel he NEEDS to comment on anything... and I didn't know there were any wheels turning and working at all, to be honest. In oth...

Hm? I'm pretty fucking patient :). I think it's been 6 months or so since I last posted. Just thought that post might be of some interest to people here. I'm confess I'm always curious whether Yak will regain the map creation fever in the future, or even better, sack up and apply to Blizzard the nex...

Re: Naming
Maybe you've never been in a fight or seen one, but there is a big difference between being punched square in the nose, and being tagged on the downswing after you dodge. When you make a dodging manuever, even if you don't cause them to miss totally, you hopefully deflect the brunt of the force away...

Just bumping this, because I found the latest mapmaking sc2 update to be very encouraging.

Re: consumables, are they effective? usefull?
Consumables are the best items in the game. Every single summon you can buy (especially/including ward support) will more than make up its cost in gold, even if you just leave it unassisted in a back lane. That's aside from their strategic value in providing meat to defend/attack obelisks, or their ...

I miss you and your map making! I really hope you come back to it in the starcraft 2 future, even though I know time moves on and probably you will be too busy being successful and paid for your work to return to your craft. Still, here's to you! *raises a toast to you with a nice merlot* Thanks for...

Re: Warcraft 4 and EotA - Will you make us happy?
SC2 map Q&A #2 is up! It includes the following interesting information " we found out the ability to allow heroes and units to gain experience is built into the Map Editor, though it will not likely be in single player or standard multiplayer. In addition, those units can also be toggled t...

lol jamn, I've lived in florida all my life, (north and south) mostly gainesville or miami. miami was full of hoods, and I guess you are less to blame if you never heard of that shit before... if someone asks to see something or borrow it or anything that involves them holding it, they are pretty mu...

You need to either man up and fight, or puss out and flight, not just delicately pretend you live in too good an area to be subject to such uncouth ruffians. I got mugged delivering pizza at 3 in the morning, 2 black guys ran up from behind while I was waiting at someone's door, hit me and grabbed t...

Re: SC2 Level Designer employment
As kibi said, they more or less already keep map memory self contained. That's not the problem. The problem is a complete lack of information availible. Most things are obvious, ie you create a point you need to delete a point. Most maps clean these obvious things up and never have to go beyond tha...

thanks for giving a backhanded compliment to a post actually containing content :(... fm made some great maps, I really miss them leaving the scene. TFT incompatibility with their fmvh 3.0 project really broke that clan's back =[ I definitely think Yak should apply, he has done wonders with EOTA, an...

Re: fountains
so, if you are playing a game where only 1 person on your team plays right, AND your team loses the left, you are in trouble? wow those towers must be great... or maybe its just that your team is committing all but 1 of its heroes to the weakest side and still losing it... I guess I should have adde...

Re: fountains
I understand those stupid towers exist, but they do not determine the course of the game like moontears or a fallen outpost can. Yes they do _something_ but if you can't destroy the lefthand outpost, then the other team will get to use those same towers against you anyway. If you push hard there but...

I wish the left lane had very few towers and the right lane had many... I dont know why he went the other way around with the map... never made any sense to me.
